PUNCH Softronix - Functional Safety Engineer


Job description


The candidate will be responsible of the development and maintenance of the system safety plan for the project according to the System Safety Engineering Process for the assigned projects.

The activity mainly consists of a performing and/or managing the execution of the safety tasks called out in the system safety plan, according to ISO26262 Cap 5 and Cap 6, HW and SW level.

Expected deliverables are:

  • Hazard Analysis
  • System Safety Plan
  • Safety Architecture Concept
  • Subsystem Requirements Documents (SSTS or team center subsystem requirements)
  • Comprehensive verification and validation plan
  • FMEA, FTA, DFSS (as required)
  • PPEI/PTEI input/approval when applicable
  • Component Technical Requirement and Algorithm Description documents approval by Design Responsible Engineer and Algo Engineer
  • Evaluation of safety plan test results
  • Safety work product design review documentation.
  • Completed Safety Case.



  • Master’s degree in Electronics / Software Engineering or equivalent


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (fields and years of work experience)

  • PhD. or 2 year of experience in Automotive field



  • Good Knowledge of ISO 26262 and specifically of Cap 5 and Cap 6
  • Knowledge of tools and methodologies for safety analyses (e.g. FTA -Fault Tree Analysis- and FMEA -Failure Mode Effect Analysis-)
  • Experience in automotive field and in embedded Software development
  • Basic knowledge on engine management system electrical architecture
  • Expertise in safety requirements analysis at the system level
  • Experience of automotive E / E system development
  • Knowledge of Requirements Management tools (e.g., DOORS )
